About

Warmun Art reflects the rich culture and landscapes of Gija Country, drawing on traditional Ngarranggarni (Dreaming) stories, contemporary experiences and the distinctive environment of the Kimberley. Owned and governed by Gija artists, Warmun Art creates opportunities for economic independence while strengthening and maintaining Gija language, culture and artistic practice through the arts.

Warmun artists are highly regarded in contemporary Aboriginal art, continuing the legacy of influential artists such as Rover Thomas, Queenie McKenzie and Jack Britten, whose vision and cultural knowledge have inspired and shaped the current generation of artists.

Warmun is 850 km east of Broome along the Great Northern Highway. It is 198 km from Kununurra via National Highway 1.
